Ambubachi - what it is and its astrological explanation

Friends today I would like to tell you what Ambubachi is....Which was Friday, 22 June( Sorry for being late :) )

According to Purana and Veda The earth is our mother. In the day of Ambubachi we consider the earth's menstrual period started. In fact it is actually when sun in Adra nakshatra( 6.40 to 20.00 degrees in Mithuna or Gemini rasi which is the enclosure of Lord Rudra, the potent appearance of Lord Shiva besides which it is ruled by shadow planet Rahu ). The farming work needs to be suspended on the three following days of Ambubachi( After that they could start it). There will be refrainment from eating any cooked meal - all we will eat fruits or food cooked day before Ambubachi and So on.

The Scientific explanation is that in the old days the rainy season used to enter just after the day of Ambubachi . On those days there were no satellites and weather stations so they used to depend on planetary positions alone.

Ambubachi is actually for those who grow crops( In farmers family) in the past. Today, the important of Ambubachi is getting less day by day just because of ever changing environment due to pollution. The rainy seasons does not come as routine basis and due to which the farmers are being effected a lot. Sometimes the volume is huge and sometimes it is very less. So, today in the era of pollution sun in Adra nakshatra does not mean rainy season have arrived and time to planting seeds.
