Rahu kalam - what is this , how to calculate it - explained by Nirban

RAHU KALAM..
inauspicious periods and one should not undertake any
auspicious work during these periods – especially any
new undertaking....
Sunday 8th period...
Monday 2nd period..
Tuesday 7th period..
Wednesday 5th period..
Thursday 6th period..
Friday 4th period..
Saturday 3rd period..

But it differs from place to place..
because it depends in sunrise and sunset..
and that too differs when place changes..

Now lets calculate Rahu Kalam..
Sunrise in 6:00 AM and sunset 6:00 PM..
calculation is simple..
time difference 12 hours..
12 X 60 = 720 minutes..
720 / 8 = 90 min every part of the day..
1st part = 6:00 AM to 7:30 AM
2nd part = 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM
.....
8th part = 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM

If the day is sunday then 8th part..
i.e. 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM

if the day is tuesday then..
3:00 PM to 4:30 PM

let me know if anyone cannot understand this.

Venus is exalted in Pisces and debilitated in Virgo, why?

3rd, 7th & 11th, these three houses are called Kama trikonas. The motivation of Kama is love, sex and enjoyment. Kama deals with the art of living with pleasure. Kama is both a Purushartha and Shad Ripu, the primary weakness of humans. This is the backbone of conjugal life. 6th is called the Ripu Bhav and Kama is one of the prime Ripu, 1st Ripu of six Ripus. 11th house is also the 6th from 6th house. So 11th house is the strongest of the three Kama trikonas and the most important house for happy conjugal relationship. Out of the nine planets, Venus is the karaka for Kama as Venus signifies semen. For this reason Kama karak Venus gets maximum strength in Pisces which is the 6th sign from Libra and the 11th sign from Taurus. Libra and Taurus are respectively the Mooltrikona and own sign of Venus. The highest exaltation position of Venus is 27° in Pisces which falls in Revati Nakshatra. Though Revati is a Moksha karak Nakshatra but this is the best Nakshatra for marital bliss because the ruling deity of this Nakshatra is Pushan, one of the 12 Adityas, the deity for marriage ceremony, he represents semen. Pushan is also responsible for feeding and nourishing the cattle and safe travels. That's the reason Kama karak Venus gets highest exaltation power in this Nakshatra.

Aries, Gemini, Leo & Virgo these four signs are called barren signs but the two signs of Mercury (Gemini and Virgo), particularly Virgo is the most barren sign because it is the active sign of neuter lord Mercury. Mercury is a child planet of the planetary cabinet. When Kama karak Venus comes in the active sign of child lord Mercury he loses his significance or karakatva and gets debilitated. The deepest debilitation point is 27° in Virgo, which falls in Chitra Nakshatra. The ruling deity of this Nakshatra is Tvastar, the celestial architect. This is another name of Viswakarma, who is the designer of all the flying chariots of the gods and all divine weapons. He created the Vajra, the thunderbolt for Devaraj Indra and many other weapons for devatas. All these weapons are used to destroy the demons and as a Guru of the demons, Sukracharya (Venus) cannot tolerate divine architect Viswakarma. That's the reason Venus loses strength in Chitra Nakshatra.

One single post would not cover it but many of us dont know, so for them I am posting here..

There are 722 deities contained in the Kalachakra (720 plus Siva and Durga)..
This is equals to 720 deities in D60 charts as well..
There are five techniques for determining which third of life a person will die..

Among these 5 elements kalchakra is one..
the movement of the Yoginis in the Kalachakra..
It also shows the health of the native in the time of sickness..
It shows how a person uses their praan or energy..
and the direction in life this will lead them..
The Prasna Marga gaves us the technique to figure out the kal chakra..
And using that system 1st of all you need to implement your natal chart to kalchakra..

PLANETARY AVASTHAS - PART 1 - written by Nirbanjyoti Das

Today , I am going to tell you the details of planetary avasthas through which calculations you will be able to understand which planet could be said powerful or which planet could be said powerless.

In Jyotish planetary avastha or graha avastha is divided by five catagoriees and they are following -

Baladi Avasthas - Set of 5 avasthas and they are - bala , kumara , yuva , vriddha and mitra

Jagradadi Avasthas - Set of 3 avasthas and they are - jagrata  , swapna and susupti

Lajjitadi Avasthas - Set of 6 avasthas and they are lajjita , garvita , ksudhita , trsita , mudita and kshobhita

Deeptadi Avasthas - Set of 9 avasthas and they are - dipta , svastha , mudita , santa , dina , dukhita , vikala , khala and kopa

Sayanadi Avasthas - Set of 12 avasthas and they are Sayana , upavesana , netrapani , prakasa , gaman , aagamana , sabhaa , aagama , bhojana , nritya lipsaaa , kautuka and nidra

lets study them one by one.

------------------------BALADI AVASTHAS --------------------------------
In case of odd rasis -
 0 deg. to 6 deg. - bala
6 deg. to 12 deg. - kumara
12 deg. to 18 deg.- yuva
18 deg. to 24 deg. - vriddha
24 deg. to 30 deg. - mrita

In case of even rasi -
 0 deg. to 6 deg. - mrita
6 deg. to 12 deg. - vriddha
12 deg. to 18 deg.- yuva
18 deg. to 24 deg. - kumara
24 deg. to 30 deg. - bala

Now, again odd rasis are - Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagitarius, Aquarius
and even rasis are - Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, capricorn and pisces

------------------------JAGRADADI AVASTHAS---------------------
Jagrata - In own rasi or exaltation
Swapna - In rasi of a friend or neutral

Mudita - When planets are associated or aspected by friendly planets or aspected by functional beneffic planets , yogakaraka planets etc

Vikala - When a planet is associated with maleffic planet

Khala - When a planet is in great enemy rasi

Kopa - When a planet is closely combusted

-----------------------------SAYANADI AVASTHAS-------------------------

Sayanadi avastha is the most complicated method to study always. There is a mathematical calculation we should know before we know the effects of sayanadi avastha of planets. Which I am discussing below.

1ST STEP :-
‘C’ - Nakshatra number occupied by the planet (1 for aswini, 2 for bharani etc.)

‘P’ - Planet whose avastha we have to calculate (1 for Sun, 2 for Moon, 3 for Mars, 4 for Mercury, 5 for Jupiter, 6 for Venus and 7 for Saturn).

‘A’ - Index of the Navamsa occupied by the planet in rasi.

‘M’ - Constellation occupied by Moon.

‘G’ - Ghati running at birth.

‘L’ - Rasi occupied by Lagna (1 for Aries, 2 for Taurus) and so on).

2ND STEP :-
Compute (C x P x A) + M + G + L and then divide it by 12 and take the remainder. Using the resulting number as the avastha index and referring to table given above, we find out the avastha of the planet.
When reminder is -

1 - Sayana
2  - Upavesana
3 - Netrapani
4 - Prakasa
5 - Gaman
6 - Aagamana
7 - Sabhaa
8 - Aagama
9 - Bhojana
10 - Nritya Lipsaaa
11 - Kautuka
0 - Nidra

3RD STEP :-
We have to add a planetary
adjustment to the remainder. We use 5 for Sun and Jupiter, 2 for Moon and Mars, 3 for Mercury, Venus and Saturn and 4 for Rahu and Ketu. We divide the sum by 3 and take the remainder. This gives the strength of the activity.

A value of 1 means “drishti” and medium results.
A value of 2 means “cheshta” and full results.
A value of 3 or 0 means “vicheshta” and gives very little results.

Let me know if you have any questions. Kindly comment in the comment box with exact planetary positions.  Without planetary position chart I will not give any answer.

We will study a birth chart as example for better understanding.

Thank you,
Nirban Jyoti Das

Mars is exalted in Capricorn and debilitated in Cancer, why?

According to Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra the planet Mars represents the fourth incarnation Narasimha of the Supreme God Vishnu. We are well aware of the aggression and strength of Lord Narasimha who killed the most powerful and unconquerable demon Hiranyakashipu using his fingernails. Mars is the Karaka of 3rd house (BPHS, Chapter-32). In horoscope 3rd house signifies valour, courage, brothers. Mars is the army chief in the planetary cabinet. He is powerful in battlefield. That is the reason Mars shows his maximum strength in 3rd sign Capricorn from his own sign Scorpio. Gemini is also the 3rd sign from his Mooltrikona sign Aries but Mars is Bhumiputra, son of Prithvi Devi (Earth). He is more powerful in earthy sign Capricorn than airy sign Gemini. The highest exaltation position of Mars is 28° in Capricorn which falls in Dhanishta Nakshatra, this Nakshatra is ruled by Ashta Vasus. Who is actually eight deities - Dhara, Apas, Dhruva, Soma, Anila, Anala, Pratyusha & Prabhas. 1st deity is Dhara, Prithvi Devi or Earth, she is the mother of Mars. This is the main reason Mars gets highest exaltation power in Dhanishta Nakshatra. This 28° position also falls in the Navamsa Virgo which is a earthy sign.

Mars is debilitated in Cancer, the sign of Moon. Cancer is a watery sign, fiery planet Mars is weak here. Cancer is the sign of emotions, adaptability, softness. These are not the natures of aggressive and stubborn Mars. He is more suitable in battlefield not here. Cancer is the 9th sign from Scorpio. In horoscope 9th house is called the Guru Bhava. Cancer is the exaltation sign of Guru Jupiter. Mars cannot show his strength and valour in front of his Guru. He is like a humble disciple. This is the reason Mars becomes weak in Cancer. This also indicates why the malefic effects of Mars are neutralised when he associates with Jupiter. The deepest debilitation position of Mars is 28° in Cancer, which falls in Ashlesha Nakshatra. The ruling deity of this Nakshatra is serpent or Rahu. This serpent deity seizes the strength of Mars. This 28° position also falls in Pisces Navamsa. Pisces is the watery sign of Guru Jupiter. Mars is humble and soft here and loses his Karakatva (aggression and valour).

Moon is exalted in Taurus and debilitated in Scorpio, why?

Moon appears to be an extreme powerhouse in Taurus. Moon gets exalted up-to 3° in Taurus. After that from 3° to 30° Moon is in Mooltrikona which is the second most powerful position of Moon. Now everyone is eager to know why Moon is so powerful in Taurus, the sign of Venus, though relationship between Venus & Moon is not friendly. The sign Taurus is a feminine sign so feminine planet Moon gets some amount of strength here. Taurus is also a earthy sign which is useful to hold water. So significator of water element, Moon gains some strength in this earthy sign but these two reasons are not sufficient for exaltation of Moon. In fact the sign Taurus contains three Nakshatras- Krittika, Rohini & Mrigasira. The first Nakshatra Krittika ranges from 26°40' of Aries to 10° of Taurus. This is the first birth Nakshatra of Moon. That is the reason Moon gets highest exaltation power at the middle portion of its own birth star Krittika, i.e. 3° in Taurus. The second Nakshatra Rohini (10° - 23°20') is the another birth Nakshatra of Moon. Also Rohini is the most beloved wife of Moon. That is the reason Moon retains its Mooltrikona power in this Nakshatra. The third Nakshatra Mrigasira ranges from 23°20' of Taurus to 6°40' of Gemini. The ruling deity (not dasa lord Mars) of this Nakshatra is Moon itself. So Moon is also very powerful in this Nakshatra. Moon is powerful in this sign only because of these three Nakshatras, Venus has no role to play here.

Moon is debilitated in Scorpio up-to 3°. Scorpio is the sign of Mars. Though Moon and Mars are friends but they are completely opposite in nature. Moon is the karaka of emotions, adaptability, softness whereas Mars is the karaka of valour and aggression. Moon loves mind games, Mars likes physical activities. That's why aggressive planet Mars gets debilitated in soft, emotional sign Cancer and soft planet Moon gets debilitated in aggressive sign Scorpio. Moon is debilitated up-to 3° which is covered by the last quarter of Vishaka Nakshatra. This quarter falls in the own Navamsa of Moon. In spite of that Moon is debilitated in this position because of this Vishaka Nakshatra. This Nakshatra is ruled by combined deities Indra and Agni. As Vishaka carries the nature of both Indra & Agni, which made Vishaka as a very aggressive and quarrelsome type of Nakshatra. So pacifist Moon feels uncomfortable here. But Moon exits from debilitation when it enters Anuradha Nakshatra. Moon is very comfortable in Anuradha because of its auspicious deity Mitra who is one of the 12 Adityas, a benevolent deity related to friendship and harmony.

Sun is exalted in Aries and debilitated in Libra, Why?

Sun is the karaka for father and 9th house of horoscope represents father, so father Sun shows his maximum activity in the 9th sign Aries from his own sign Leo. Sun gets his maximum exaltation power in Aswini Nakshatra. Ruling deity of this Nakshstra is Aswini Kumars, twin sons of Sun and his wife Sanjana. Their individual names are Nasatya and Dasra. Aswini brothers are the physicians of the gods, they have the knowledge of all herbs, they have the power to set anything right. Father Sun loves his sons the most so he feels the most comfortable in this Nakshatra.

Sun is debilitated in Libra up-to 10°. This portion falls in the Mooltrikona range (0° - 15°) of Venus. All the 9 planets represent 9 incarnations of the Supreme God Vishnu. Venus represents the Parashurama incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Parashurama was the 6th incarnation (Avatar) of Lord Vishnu. He was an angry Brahmin who killed huge number of Kshatriya warriors because they were abusing their power. He killed 21 clans of Kshatriyas. Sun is also a Kshatriya king and when he comes in the active region of Lord Parashurama (Venus) he loses his power. That's the reason Sun is debilitated in Libra.Though Sun is debilitated up-to 10°, he remains very weak till 20°. After 20° when Sun enters his birth Nakshatra Vishaka he regains his power even in the sign of Venus.

Progressed Ascendant or Muntha - How you will calculate it ?

While you are doing varsha fal of a native , the progress ascendant is very important topic here. I am here telling you how to figure out the muntha or progress ascendant of a native.

To calculate progress ascendant or Muntha, you will need the following things -

      --Lagna of the native
--date of birth/ age of the native

Now see how much the age is, Subtract 1 form the native age. Then divide by 12 and then add the reminder with the lagna.

I will give you this with an example. lagna is Libra lagna. And lets my age is 32 .

      So 32 / 12 = 8(reminder)
proceed upto 8th house form libra and that taurus. lagna. Taurus lagna is progress ascendant or Muntha.

let me know if you have any questions. Write your age and lagna I will tell your Muntha or progressed ascendant.

The lord of the sign in which the Muntha is located is called the Muntha Lord. In the annual chart, the Muntha lord yields desirable or adverse results according to its location, strength, and other planetary influences on it.

The Lagna lord of the Varsha Kundali is called Varshesha or the Varsheshwara. He plays an important role in the annual chart. It is supposed to significantly influence the events that takes place during the year. A strong Varsha Lord ensures success, prosperity and good health throughout the year in question, while a weak one indicates the reverse. The Varsha lord is selected out of five planets also called ‘Five Office Bearers’ which hold special significance during the year.
